As we begin the new school year, we’re excited to share what is new and what is coming to Xello. These new features will aid educators and students in the career planning experience.

Teach students how to create, take action, and reflect on their goals

Goal-setting is an important component of career readiness, and the new updates at Xello just made this process easier.

Students can now create personal, academic, and social goals and tasks that fit with who they are, giving them control of their own learning and outcomes. Adding notes about what they learned after achieving a goal will help promote self-reflection and encourage a growth mindset.

By having access to goals and reflections, educators can gain valuable insights on their students’ progress. This will help them personalise feedback to support their students’ growth and report on task completion.

Empower students to showcase their projects, achievements, and skills with digital portfolios

Digital profiles have become a popular tool in education, as they provide students an easily accessible space to showcase their learning across different subjects and an opportunity to reflect on their past work. Students of all ages can benefit from utilising portfolios, though they are especially useful for secondary school students completing larger projects and preparing for college, university or job applications.

With Xello’s new portfolio features, students can easily create and share digital portfolios that feature their Xello activities, external media, and personal reflections. Portfolios are ideal for extended projects, college, university and job applications, talent portfolios, and more.

Educators will also be able to access portfolios to report on student progress.

Connect classroom subjects to students’ future plans with subject area teaching resources

Xello’s year 7-13 subject area teaching resources have two main purposes: They help students understand the importance of each school subject area in relation to their future success, and they provide content ideas and teaching strategies for educators to utilise in their classrooms.

To help support subject area educators, we’ve added videos and lesson plans that incorporate subject-related skills, discussions, and career portfolios in the following subjects:

Help students find suitable opportunities and engage employers with our work-related learning enhancements

New enhancements to our work-related learning module help students better identify and apply for opportunities that match their needs. They can organise their important deadlines, filter and sort opportunities based on their needs, and get visibility into their request statuses so that they have a clear timeline to follow and can plan and prioritise their applications accordingly.

For administrators, the enhancements give them more ways to track employer encounters, collaborate with partners, track student progress, and add resources to support their students.

And, there are much more exciting enhancements to come!

Coming Soon to Xello

Save parents and guardians time with quick and easy access to Xello Family

We’re bringing single-sign on (SSO) to parents and guardians to save them time by letting them access Xello without having to remember their login details.

Just like with student and educator SSO in Xello, this sign-on method is a safe and secure way of moving from one system to another without having to log in with a password each time. Soon, parents will be able to log in to a portal, such as Google, and then access their Xello account with just a few clicks.

Enhance the educator experience and improve tracking and reporting by automating manual tasks

Xello always seeks to create the best experience for educators. Our new data integration feature will save educators time by automating manual tasks such as creating and managing user accounts, groups, and rostering, and allow students to be auto-assigned to educators and classes, which will improve reporting insights and outcome tracking.

Plus, educator accounts can be automatically created and deactivated, and groups can be automatically created for each class. That way, students can be assigned to groups based on their current course enrollments, enabling efficient assignment, tracking, and reporting on subsets of students.

Demonstrate you are achieving the Gatsby Benchmarks with an integrated careers education curriculum and report

Soon, educators will be able to demonstrate that they are achieving Gatsby Benchmarks with an integrated careers education curriculum and report. This report is a powerful, quick, and easy way to track your year 7-13 students’ progress against all eight of the Gatsby Benchmarks, with custom lessons designed to help you achieve them!

Upload students’ exam results and help them stay on top of their academic progress

Educators will be able to upload students’ exam results to provide them and their students with a comprehensive view of academic performance. This will simplify the management and reporting of exam results by giving educators a centralised source of information. That way, they can provide personalised guidance and advice to students.

Organise and track your students’ destinations, self-evaluations, and feedback

Surveys will let educators easily create and send surveys to students, making tracking of destinations, self-evaluations, and feedback more organised and efficient. The surveys are fully customisable, so that questions can be tailored to an educator’s needs and sent to specific groups of students.

This will provide educators with valuable insights to better support their students with college and university planning, improve engagement, and track outcomes. Students can report on their application results, share where they plan to attend, and provide feedback throughout the pathways planning process. This will enable them to receive the support they need when researching, applying, and deciding on colleges and universities.
