Xello Partners with National ACTE to Launch Student Career Development Content Series

Future readiness provider releases strategies and resources to support high quality career and technical education

ONTARIO, Canada (December 1, 2020)Xello, a modern K-12 college, career and future readiness program, is partnering with the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) to support the release of a series of publication briefs, online lessons and webinars covering student career development for career and technical education (CTE) educators.

“We have a long-standing relationship with ACTE and we’re eager to build upon our work with them to help equip CTE educators and counselors with high-quality resources to support student career development,” said Matt McQuillen, CEO and Co-founder at Xello. “ACTE’s Quality CTE Program of Study Framework continues to raise the bar for CTE education – an effort Xello is proud to support, and one that aligns closely with our commitment to supporting all students, all pathways.”

This new set of resources supports ACTE’s Quality CTE Program of Study Framework by providing CTE educators with pragmatic ways to support student career development. The new content series will highlight five topics, including:

Early Learning: How to introduce career development at earlier ages and stages to ensure effective academic and career development in high-school.

Delivering Real-world Experiences: The importance of work-based learning and how to deliver an organized, efficient, high-quality work-based-learning experience to properly prepare students for the workplace.

Unifying Your District: How to align counseling and CTE to level-up your student career development activities and develop a cohesive strategy for student success.

Connecting Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) to Career Success: The role social-emotional learning plays related to CTE and how to incorporate it into your career development practice to ensure students have essential skills for career success.

Technology to Deliver Equity: How to utilize technology to give all students timely, relevant, and accurate information about future options.

Each topic will be delivered through the following content formats: a three-page publication brief providing foundational elements and promising practices, an online mini-course walking through topic principles and practices, and a webinar showcasing relevant examples from district level leaders.

“Our mission at ACTE is to provide education leadership in developing a competitive workforce – a mission that is reinforced through partners like Xello who are dedicated to ensuring all students are positioned for career success,” said LeAnn Wilson, ACTE’s Executive Director. “We look forward to sharing these resources with the education community, during a time when they are needed most.”

At ACTE’s CareerTech VISION 2020 conference, Xello is also hosting a panel session, “Using Work-based Learning to Prepare Students for Career Success.” With a diverse group of panelists that will bring state and district-level expertise, attendees can expect to learn tactics and strategies for bringing work-based-learning to life in their schools. Attendees are also invited to stop by Xello’s virtual booth (booth #200) to learn more about its CTE initiatives and receive free resources.
